Feel Good Friday: Happy Earth Day!

April is just full of important days! For Earth Day I figured I’d feature some of our most sustainable products from our favorite brands so you can feel GOOD about the businesses you support…

5th Dimension:

Jayna of 5th Dimension’s commitment to sustainability starts at the source. 5th Dimension sources all their products from Earth conscious organic farm partners. Jayna particularly sources herbs from small farms. She also commits to using abundantly available herbs to avoid putting further pressure on at-risk plan populations.

“Longevity is a driving force behind my sourcing and formulating, both for the health of the planet and the health of our skin!” ~Jayna

Ursa Major:

Ursa Major is an innovative brand constantly seeking ways to optimize their packaging materials and methods of production. Whenever possible they use renewable energy to manufacture and source their ingredients, all within the United States, to lower their carbon footprint.

Here are some recent wins for the Earth listed on their website (Earth: 1, Ursa Major: 1,000):

  • Transitioned all 8 fl oz bottles to at least 50% PCR content

  • Moved to a more sustainable, FSC certified paper stock for the majority of our secondary packaging

  • Produced over 90% of cartons at a carbon neutral facility, with 100% renewable energy

  • Certified Plastic Negative

Ursa Major is committed to using as much organic content as possible, while responsibly sourcing everything that goes into our products and providing Full Disclosure™ ingredient lists.

To help offset their carbon footprint, this brand partners with a diverse group of organizations created to protect and preserve the planet. Each product you purchase from Ursa Major has funded projects at the Rokeby Farm, Zeno Farm, Outdoor Afro, the Sierra Club, National Wildlife Federation, National Park Foundation, Clean the World, Vermont Land Trust, One Tree Planted and Outward Bound for Veterans etc.

All Ursa Major products available at TWR are made from recycled glass:

Binto:

Binto sources all their raw materials from around the world:

  • Vitamin A ~ carrots grown in Spain

  • Folate ~ algae in Canada

  • Fish oil ~ coast of South America.

They never use fillers or preservatives in their products. On top of their all natural ingredients, Binto uses all recyclable or compostable materials. The individual packets they sell are recyclable via Terracycle and 30 day packet packaging is compostable.  They offer a program where they send you a label and you can send them your packages back so they can recycle them through Terracycle for you. All other packaging material is recyclable. For example, products like Glow Down and Inositol can be recycled as usual. I got the inside scoop from Keira at Binto: “We have new paper tubes coming out that will also be compostable and recyclable” Stay tuned for more Earth conscious practices from this amazing brand!

Poppy and Pout:

All of Poppy and Pout products are made by hand, with love, in small batches, at their warehouse in Idaho. They use recyclable cardboard tubes for their lip balms because they “believe taking care of the planet is just as important as taking care of yourself”. All their ingredients are 100% natural and they never test on animals!

Wylde One:

Wylde One is committed to sustainably sourcing the highest quality plant-based ingredients, free from artificial contaminants or chemicals, from their native lands around the world.

This brand is committed to only collecting herbs after they have grown the ideal amount of time to ensure all of their ingredients have reached their maximum impact, effectiveness and concentrated energy. As mentioned on their website, Wylde One pledges to only work with creditable partners who adhere to strict manufacturing and testing standards. On top of that they retest all their products!

Last but not least we here at The Wellness Refinery work hard to do our part:

Our tonic bar uses Bennett Compost for weekly pick ups. The napkins we (and you!) use are made of all natural biodegradable bamboo materials. Reusable glassware and mugs are used for in store orders. We use all natural ingredients and choose the brands we sell meticulously because we’re all connected + grounded by mother Earth and it’s our responsibility to take of her the way she cares for us.
